Modeling and Simulation teacher Lindsey Spalding wrapped up her final year and said goodbye to her students and fellow staff members this week before she begins a new chapter in her life.

“I’m going to miss the students, absolutely — the students and the staff,” Spalding said.

Spalding plans on going back to college in order to receive her PhD in sustainable energy research.

Teacher Jonah Hardy from Lake Mary High School will be replacing Spalding in the upcoming school year.

“He is super excited and he will make a great addition to the Husky faculty,” Spalding said.

Spalding feels comfortable leaving the Mod and Sim program in the hands of Hardy and Samuel Adorno.

“They are going to be able to build the program off the chart,” Spalding said.

During her time at the school, Spalding has been able to not only establish the Mod and Sim program but made it a dominant STEM class and club with its own budget. Students are now recognized industry wide for their modeling and simulation skills and earning the NCS certification.

The future plans of the class include further developing the virtual and augmented reality departments of Mod and Sim.
