Boys lax takes it to International

In a game that luckily was not played during anti-bullying week, the boys lacrosse team beat district opponent International Community 22-2 on Friday, Feb. 27 with junior Granite Porcher leading the way scoring five times.

This game provided the team with their second win of the season, even if it came from a much smaller school who recently lost to Oviedo 24-0. After starting the season 0-4, this win comes at a good time for the lacrosse team.

“I feel like this was a good confidence boosting win for the team since we haven’t started out great, so this was really good for us,” Porcher said. “It also gives us a good look at what our district has in store for us.”

After being up 20-1 at the end of the first half, most of the second half was play time for the bench players, and time for the team to hold the ball. Other leading scorers included senior Chris Carpenter who had four goals, and junior Tanner Marshal with three.

“We have improved since the first whistle to today, and we are going to keep improving until the end of the season,” coach Frank Kurtz said. “I’m just trying to sell to the guys that the only two games that matter are the district semi-final and the district championship and we are on our way to getting there.”
